As Young Drinkers Dwindle, Green Boba Soars!
Americans are drinking less, a new Gallup poll suggests. Data from a national survey released Wednesday showed that only 54 percent of U.S. adults said they consumed alcohol. That number fell from 58 percent in 2024. This is the lowest percentage in Gallup’s 90 years of collecting data on drinking behavior.
And for the first time since Gallup began asking respondents what they thought about the health effects of moderate drinking, the majority of Americans said they believed that even one to two drinks a day negatively affected a person’s health.
What's making young adults sober up? Green Boba! Here's why: Green represents a cool, calming effect visually. People see green, and they think cool mint flavors, calming peaceful tea, and Boba. Bubble tea, also known as boba tea, is a tea based beverage that combines brewed tea, milk or fruit flavors, and chewy tapioca pearls (Bubble tea). What began as a local curiosity in Taiwan has exploded into a global craze: according to Grand View Research, the worldwide bubble tea market was valued at USD $2.5 billion in 2020. And the trend is growing. Boba sales hit $2.63 billion in 2024, and projected to grow from $2.83 billion in 2025 to $4.78 billion by 2032.
Young adults cite health concerns as a major factor for alcohol reduction, and the Boba "puts me at ease," says Mark.
